Caister Open Bowls Tournament

A four wood Aussie Pairs tournament will be played on Saturday 25th July 2026 at Caister Bowls Club. It is a competition for 24 teams with prize money of £140 for the winning team, £80 for the runners-up, and £40 for third place. Starting at 10:00am and finishing around 4:30 pm. Teams can be ladies, men or mixed.

Tournament Rules

1. Toss for the mat.
2. Mat placement 2 metres only, every cast
3. Minimum cast 23 metres.
4. No trial ends.
5. No visiting the head.
6. Both skips to leave the head before either plays.
7. No dead ends, if the jack leaves the rink it is re-spotted on the T.
8. Bowls in the ditch are dead.
9. Woods to be within 2 metres to count.
10. Positions of play may not be altered during a game but can be changed for subsequent games.
11. 3 Points for winning the game, 1 point for a draw. All ends won receive an extra 1 point for either team.
12. In the event of a team being disqualified or withdrawing the other team is awarded 6 points and 8 shots difference.
13. 5 minutes grace is allowed for team members to be at the mat after the bell rings for start of play, otherwise the team is disqualified for that game.
14. The winner will be the team with the highest number of points
15. In the event of a draw between teams at the end of the tournament the winner will be decided by shot difference between for and against shots. If this is also a draw a one-end shoot-out will be played.
16. Appropriate bowls clothing to be worn, preferably teams having matching shirts. Shoes must be flat sole bowls shoes.
17. Both skips to sign and hand the scorecards into the tournament co-ordinator. If only one card is handed in, that score will be used.
18. There will be no umpire available, but an umpire kit will be on hand. If any disputes arise, contact the adjudicator.
19. The tournament organiser (adjudicator) will have the final say in any event.
20. Be prepared for inclement weather, all players must be ready if there is any rain.

The above rules keep the games moving with as little delay as possible.

Tournament Rinks

Catering.
Hot and cold food, coffee, tea and snacks will be available.
A fully licensed bar with a good selection of beers, lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.

Parking.
Parking is next to the bowling green and an adjacent grass overflow car park will be available.
